The Heikegani

A meditation on the forty-five-degree angle.  An effort to impose geometry upon the organic volumes of the human form.  An exploration at the intersection of aesthetics and ergonomics.

The Heikegani features two large zippered pockets on the front of the body, allowing the entire body of the jacket to open.  These zippers are placed according to the range of motion of the wearer’s arm, remaining within easy reach from top to bottom.  Atypical collar construction and shoulder seam placement resonates with the shape of the front zippered pockets.  This vibration is echoed on the sleeve hem, which also neatly frames the wearer’s thumb.
